Does ILance offer the ability to trade in addition to buying and selling? I would like for my members to have the ability to trade as well.

Stick around, we have a new add-on soon to be released called WantAds, used for posting "I am looking for" type ads to receive offers.

This will easily integrate in the ILance software.

I can confirm Want Ads will be available for ILance 3.1.7 once released. It will allow the offering of best amounts, comments and of course the ability to let users trade among eachother.

Wanted Ads will be geared towards users posting what they want (hard to find items OR services) and registered members the ability to post their Best Offer and/or existing Auction ID already posted in the marketplace.

The product will also come ready to go with Search Friendly URLS giving Google and other major search engines more links to index within your marketplace (Categories, Want Ad Listings, etc)

The category system is also seperate giving you the chance to create a completely new business model based on Wanted Ads / Classifieds within your marketplace environment.

I like the idea of this feature for ilance, is it a free service to site members, or is their provisions to make it a paid service?

Wanted Ads will be available soon as 3.1.7 is released. It's currently being tested as we speak and should be ready very soon. There is no ETA at this time. An announcement will be posted shortly.

As for being free, yes it can be used a few ways. For example, as the admin you'll be able to define the ability to use 2 methods of letting users post wanted ads:

Existing Auction ID # - where a user can enter a response based on an active existing auction currently listed in the marketplace (product only)

Best Offer - where a user can post a best offer including a message as their response.

As the admin you'll be able to use both at the same time or whichever way you'd like. So in terms of being free, yes, but it can also be used as a selling tool where members can only respond to wanted ads if they post a product auction (or know of a similar item id in the marketplace). This could be used to entice a seller to sell an item which at this post you can charge an insertion fee so it can be integrated this way too.

It's pretty nice. I gave it a boot the other day and I was very impressed :D Screen shots to come I'm sure.
