Evaluating iLance for a client.

php max execution time - 300 ?

Why so high?
Many hosting companies limit it to 30 secs.

I work as a php/mysql dev.
Even with more than 1 million rows in a mysql db, I've never needed more than 90 secs.

Is it just an install requirement?

thx.

"Evaluating iLance for a client. "

I don't have a license key.
We haven't made the purchase decision yet.

Erin told me I could ask questions (specifically like the one I asked) in the pre-sales forum.

Was she wrong?

Hi Sam,

The reason for max execution time of 300 is mainly for the ILance Installer system. With well over 4,000+ phrases, and depending on various server speeds and resources available (memory, etc) we felt as a team to add there 300 just to be safe.

Once your installation is complete you can bump it back down to normal standards (30, 60, 120).

Regards,
Peter

We're in pre-sales forum :) I think this is a valid question. I also think we need to update that portion of the FAQ and tailor it more toward the actual installer system.

I can also add that now for max_execution_time it's not needed 300. When installer has beed upgraded all phrases are added in packages so now everything is installing fine without changing that value :)

No problem Sam.

Let us know if we can help you with anything else. I think you'll really enjoy what ILance has to offer. We've attempted to cover all aspects of running not only a service marketplace but product, lowest unique bid, etc. You are able to disable most of the features or enable them all. That choice is up to you depending on how your business plan is situated.

Good luck with the decision process :)

Peter
