I found that products are licensed per tier. What does it mean?

How much time take to customize / change design of ilance?

How much time take iLance installation?

How much iLance licenses are sold since 2000?

How many words (symbols) are in iLance? This is important for translations.

Hi
I found that products are licensed per tier. What does it mean?

Please take a look here http://www.ilance.com/ilance/pricing
So you have here comparision of different tiers.
Maximum accounts is quantity of users that can register in your marketplace.

How much time take to customize / change design of ilance?

Depends on the scope of changes. If you need custom professional design it will take time for sure. When you need simple design it will take 2-3 days (I think).

How much time take iLance installation?

I'm not sure what do you mean? If there is no issues on server and everything is configured properly it takes 5 minutes to install. But I know some users who tried for few days and couldn't install it because of some strange server configuration.

How much iLance licenses are sold since 2000?

That's secret information.

How many words (symbols) are in iLance? This is important for translations.

It's about 4300-4500 phrases (not words) and about 200 emails.

1. I still dont understand what is tier?
2. Upgrade possibilities. If I buy Starter, can I upgrade to Unleashed? How much upgrade will cost?

Hi,

Tiers simply mean different license options, such as starter or established.

You only need to pay the difference in cost when upgrading your license

1. I still dont understand what is tier?

I think this refers to the established upgrade, like how many domain names (3), can i have the script running on 3 domains?

Hello Gentlemen,

That is correct. A tier refers to the leverage as to what is available for that license. So if you had the Established license, you would be allowed to use ILance on up to 3 domain names that are completely different from another. This would generally put the site owner in a position to earn tripple the revenue based on completely different auction formats using the same Established software license.

Let us know if you have any additional questions.

Peter

If I tier-upgrade on the sixth month, does it mean that I will be getting support and updates six months for the first domain and one year for the two additional domains?

Thank you

No, the support period is valid for 1 year from the time you first become licensed, so if you choose to move up in the license tier in that time, we update your account status with the new license type and support continues on.

Update support can be renewed each year.

Keep in mind Imago that ILance is a solid and "completed" framework. This means it would be up to you to upgrade when a new version is released or continue to use and work on the version you originally purchased. When considering upgrading to the latest version of ILance there is a few things to consider:

1. What level of customizations do I plan on making
2. If I will be modifying the ILance code, will I hack it up using my own methods (quicker) or will I learn how to use the proper method of "API development" based on special api hooks in ILance (big decision).
The difference here is if you use the ILance api hooks you can easily upgrade to the next version without any loss of modification. This cannot be possible if you've taken it upon yourself to hack up the code to fit your needs with your own development (without using api hooks).

The point is upgrading is an option available to you. You do not have to upgrade or renew your license if you choose not to.

Peter

I understand, there are some radical improvements in 3.1.7. Will it be easy to upgrade from 3.1.6, provided there are no major hacks, only design modifications? Or better wait for the new version...

Absolutely. If you bought 3.1.6 and then 3.1.7 is released a week later all you do is run a script (and upload all new files over existing ones) and you're good to go. In fact, there are two ways to upgrade in the latest version:

1. Using API hooks (automated upgrade, just upload and go)
2. Using Manual Upgrade script (view SQL changes before they are applied, interact with your databased based on what ILance wants to change, etc).

The point is we're moving forward on each version, more optimizations and security implementations and we've made it our priority to actually make upgrading to the next version simple for our customers.

So I'd say you're good to go based on either or decision you'll be making. You can move forward with ILance 3.1.6 now, and upgrade in 10 seconds when 3.1.7 is released (giving you a chance to get things up and running without further delays).. or you can wait for 3.1.7.

Personally, I'd want to get things going right away and I'm not just saying that to soften up the sale. This is a big decision you're making but you'll be dealing with new design templates, maybe some css changes, you'll want to get your logo in place, want to sit in the admin cockpit and tinker with the features enabling and disabling them and of course you'll want to test the marketplace by playing the role of a buyer or seller or provider or merchant.. either way you might want to give yourself some extra time to play around before you just "download 3.1.7" and install it for production use.

If I were you and I knew that ILance is the best decision for my operation I'd buy the latest now and upgrade when it's available. There is no difference in versions other than reported bugs fixed in the later version along with more cool features.

Regards and Good luck! :)

Peter
