Hi
I appreciate that you guys are probably very busy trying to get version 3 ready for release.
In spite of this I wanted to know how much work is remaining before it's release as I'm trying to decide if I should wait for the new version before launching my site, as there are features on the new version I want to use or bite the bullet and just go with what I have.
While it isn't easy with software development to pin down an exact time for completion it would help to know if the waiting was only going to be a short time, like a week or much longer, a few months.

Angelus,
First of all, great question! :)
Second of all, we sincerely apologize for the delay in the release of beta to our existing customers, but let it be known that ILance never had any plans to release a specific ETA for the latest version 3. A few posts regarding version 3 was made when the forum initially launched and the posts / theads in terms of v3 grew from there.
ILance has been developing the latest version 3 for the past 5 months. It is safe to say the front end (client side) is complete! We plan on releasing the latest version 3 software to specific licensed customers within 1 week. This will easily give customers the chance to get version 3 up on their server, and have basic administrative access to the new Live Update System available (http://www.ilance.ca/forum/showthread.php?t=28&highlight=sync).
This move will do a number of positive things:
1 - Allow customers to obtain the software with full access to the final template pages (to customize, etc). Let it be known even Open source customers will obtain version 3 beta in fully encrypted format protecting our intellectual property before the release date. When the final release is ready, the format of programming codes soley depends on the initial purchase you made for version 1 or 2 >> Let's not forget that ILance v3 has absolutely no PHP or complicated programming pages within the 'templates' so this will never affect your design look and feel while working with the beta version 3.
2 - Allow ILance to continue finishing the adminstrative side and with the live update system in place, allows the customer to simply review what "New" files have been released or which older files have been "updated" allowing instant download access from the live update server to your installed version of ILance with a few clicks.
3 - Allow some of our existing international customers to finalize some of the missing language conversion to their own languages (ILance supports a more logical method of multi-language availibility in version 3). The main difference for multi-language takes the phrases/content from files residing on your server straight into the database using an optimized method including the ability to allow languauge packs to be uploaded from the main language administration area.
4 - Last but not least, allow our customers to report any bugs they find within the software to be patched up before the release candidate of ILance v3 and we have recently installed a forum-chat software that will easily allow ILance staff, developers (such as myself) to actively communicate via chat in regards to the process flow of version 3, likes, dislikes, etc.
We're almost ready and a post to the announcements forum will be available when this process commences.
We have also decided that existing customers will be required to fill out our beta form application and our staff will randomly select 20 to 30 existing licensed customers to engage in the beta testing period. This information will be available very shortly.

I can't wait!
As the trouble of modifying and transalting the current version of Ilance is huge (and that is the only reason we haven't used yet the script), I can't wait to have the chance to test drive the version 3.

Are we any closer to version 3. I just signed up for the Beta out of shear anxiety to get started on my website. Any ETA on the official release? At least I can get working on the Beta and get familiar with the software.

I have also send by Fax the Beta tester Form, but I got no reply.
I guess that there is a good reason for that as the support of Ilance hasn't let me down so far!

Hi,
I am having trouble with the installer. Every time I try to run it, starts OK and then always stucks at:
File 128/839: button_fontname.gif
Always installer stops responding when it reaches that point. The only way to stop the application is using Task Manager.
I am using Windows XP Pro.
What can I do to resolve that. I don't have any other FTP problems.
I have received no reply for my request  including myself in the betatesting of v3.Plz confirm this, as iam not getting any reply to my earlier mails send on
02/04/2004 & 05/04/2004.
Iams one of yuor early buyers and iam just postponing launching of my site waiting for v3, at least i can get started on it.so that when the final phase it over and ready for release, then i can simultaniously launch my site which has been off the track for more than 5-6 months.
Plz respond back to this, i belive you wont let me down as iam just........waiting............ :(
I trust you will at least let us do the beta test and hone our skills on v3

Iyer,
Erin mentioned that she sent you an email with all required information for beta process and this is what we are currently waiting for. When you decide to become a beta tester, we'll need to know exactly who is beta testing our software and thus we require an extra form filled out with your adhereance and understanding to our policies. Please fill this form out and fax back to:
+1.905.377.8110.
Looking forward to your comments

Hello everybody,
since I am waiting as well, I would be interested to know whether the beta testing had already started and how long is it presumably going to take.
Thanks a lot

Hi
any news on v3? Just looking through this forum it seems to always be "coming soon" but with no real proof. Any chance of getting a copy as it stands now as I would really like to see what new functionality is involved and what it can bring to freelance sites.
Thanks
Ian

IanWith no proof? I think you should look through the site once again. There is plenty of proof and v3 has already been released to the beta testers. ;)

In order to beta test the software, you must have licensed customer permissions on the forum. When you have these permissions, we grant access to our new store from the link at the top menu "Store". When you see this menu you can click "order 3.0.0" and download the zend encoded beta version for free before the main release (which shouldn't be very much longer).
Best regards,
Peter
