I had a very interesting thought that came to me just the other day. I figured I should bring it to the table to see what others think.
Picture This:
You launch ILance, aquire a few buyers that are posting their projects (service auctions) on your site. One thing you don't have are professionals helping bid for the work.
You decide to open your XML feed to not only affiliates, but actual web sites specialized in freelancing, projects, programming, design, etc. This means your XML feed would contain "active projects" available on your web site (your ILance powered marketplace) listed on several high ranking web sites (or only a selected few).
As a result, your projects become a form of advertising (like google ads if you will). You would be listing your live auctions on the ILance web site (and others you choose to do business with) and visitors click your ads, signup and do business on your marketplace.
This is doing a number of things:
1- Promotes your Marketplace
2- Promotes your Projects and Auction listings
3- Generates new leads
4- Increases overall revenue
We are actively trying to promote ilance.org (http://www.ilance.org/) site. If we get this site to a point with a lot of designers and programmers, they would be subject to a handful of active projects and development requests available from your web sites.
Our main goal would be to create a larger community with active projects from our customers active marketplaces. This would show our future ILance customer that we provide a trusted and solid solution to all types of businesses, at the same time professionals come to you, not the other way around :)
On the same note, I could see another XML feed being created .. where "Experts" from your marketplace are promoted on other sites ... so instead of "Projects Available" members would see "Experts" available (maybe with a small blurb like "I'm an expert in Web Design"). To a site like ILance, this would also be a great opportunity to let our buyers find experts available on your marketplaces, which again brings new leads directly to your web site.
Let's discuss! Would anyone be willing to help and test with a project such as this? Let me know.
