What makes you think this guy didn't make that amount? Understandbly, I'm not in this businesses, so I may be a little new to it.. but I found the link on a respectable site, but it could just very well be a scam, but for what it's worth.. interesting idea.

Is that not possible with a google adsense account?

Check it out. Some think it's legit, others can't believe it. So it now I feel it's more of a scam to promote his marketing package for $90/mo but if this is true and that money can be made..... intalesting :)

You can make great money from google ads. I manage a large domain profile running nothing but google ads and earn morn than my engineering job at Dell. However, you don't need to spend 95 / month to learn how to place google ads, SEO your site, determine niche markets that pay the highest keywords, etc.

Domains are under $4.00 USD, no code experience is needed to place the ads, title is king when it comes to SEO, never keyword dump (same words over and over), use full paths to all internal links (http://www.site.com/other-page.html) have an aged domain or buy one from someone less creative that just sits there unused...

that is really all you have to do. Some keywords pay .05 while others pay 18.00 per click. So large volumes of traffic might not be as important if you keywords are fabulous.
